Digital educational tools and various digital media have become established as educational aids during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although video games may be appealing to students due to their fun factor, they are not commonly utilized in the classroom. This lecture explores the use of commercial video games as an innovative method and tool within the academic teaching of archaeology, as well as the communication of the past to a larger audience. In respect thereof, classes conducted at the Faculty of Archaeology, Leiden University, and dedicated to the playful investigation of the past will be reviewed.
Lecturer: Dr. Aris Politopoulos (Leiden University)
